Mr. Mohammad Makki, M.A.

Financial Economy and Labor Market Expert

Mr. Mohammad Makki has an M.A. in Financial Economics from the American University of Beirut (AUB) and is completing his Ph.D. at Université St. Joseph in the same field. Mr. Makki is a specialist in economics, sustainable development, labor market, and forecasting. He has more than 12 years of experience in academia and research; he chaired the economic department at the Lebanese International University (LIU) for six years and has served as an academic consultant on several projects. Mr. Makki is the founder and president of the "Beirut Economics Congress" research center (BEC). He is a national and international executive consultant (e.g., Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Trade; Oxfam International) and has initiated and organized several local and international conferences in Lebanon, Tunisia, and Paris. As a financial and economic consultant, Mr. Makki has contributed to the sustainability and governance of INGO- specific financial mechanisms and has designed cooperative and partnership models for promoting social justice in Lebanon. In addition to the above expertise, Mr. Makki co-founded the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (IEC) at LIU and empowered more than 500 entrepreneurs, MSMEs, and cooperatives through training, coaching, and mentorship in urban and rural areas with several other NGOs and INGOs. He advocates for the inclusion of displaced individuals in their host communities for better economic and social cohesion.
